Our lovely Blue 💙
Arriving with us as a stray during the summer after being rehomed via a pet selling site, within 1 hour of being delivered to his ‘new home’ this poor lad was abandoned at a local veterinary practice under the illusion of having being found!
The awful individuals that are responsible for this are known to us and are being monitored!
Thanks to the details on his microchip, we traced Blue’s previous owner who confirmed the details of this whole sorry situation.
Blue was very unsettled initially and after discussions with his previous owner, we understand that this was normal for him, he was farm bred and had received very little socialisation in his early life.
Blue sadly suffers from noise phobias, sometimes as simple as a car door closing but we are very proud of his progress so far, now that the weather is cooler we have been able to spend more time working on his socialisation and desensitisation to help him experience new environments.
Blue has ups and downs but overall he’s doing superbly.
Despite all of this, Blue is very sociable and happy go lucky, he desperately tries to be brave in new situations but relies on his trusted humans for safety and guidance.
We understand that it may be some time yet before he is ready to head off to a new home but we are hoping that we may be able to find the perfect collie enthusiast or two that aren’t in a hurry to adopt and can visit him regularly to build up a wonderful bond before expecting him to embark on the next step of his journey.
Blue’s future home would ideally be a pet free environment.
Blue LOVES a ball and this is his favourite reward for being a BIG brave boy!
Now when we say big, Blue was very overweight when he arrived but we are super pleased to say he’s now lost around 4.5kg’s and he’s looking and feeling so much better for it, his continued diet and exercise will ensure he reaches his target weight but he still has a little way to go…
We can safely say that Blue is learning and managing to live a ‘normal’ life, he may have a few more challenges along the way but with our love and support, we are determined to help him through it.
