The adoption process
The team here at Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue will always do their very best to match our dogs to the best suited home and environment for the dog, as all dogs are different and will have different needs.
Whilst in the care of HWAR all of our dogs are assessed, whether they are residing in our kennels or one of our wonderful foster homes. Once assessed we can begin looking for their forever families. Please visit OUR DOGS section to view dogs currently available for adoption.
To make an enquiry, please call 01568 760033, if no one is available to take your call please leave a clear voicemail with your contact number and we aim to call you back within 48 hours.
Once your application has been reviewed, we will contact you to let you know whether you will be a suitable match and are being considered for adoption. We will then have a further chat in detail about the particular dog and everything we know about them, their past and requirements for a happy & healthy future. If we feel you are a suitable match, we will arrange for a visit to meet the dog. We request that all family members within the home are present for the first visit. Any resident dogs/regular visiting dogs will also be required to meet in a controlled environment to ensure they are a good match.
Home checks are an essential part of our adoption process, this may be a member of our team visiting your property to ensure your garden is safe and secure or a video/photos of the whole of your garden and perimeter. We also request a vet reference (if you have had pets previously), this is to confirm that all previous/current pets have been well cared for and have received any medical attention when needed etc.
Once all relevant checks have taken place and a good bond has been formed between the dog and family the adoption process can be completed.
All of our dogs are usually fully vaccinated, neutered and micro chipped. If a dog/puppy is not neutered you will be supplied with a code to take to our vet, where this will be carried out at an appropriate time, at a reduced cost to the new owner. Please note- neutering is ESSENTIAL. As a new owner you will also be offered 5 weeks free pet insurance with Agria, should this be required.
Our Adoption donation fee is from £200. Please note that unless agreed, Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue will not be responsible for any medical costs after the date of adoption.
Any dog adopted from HWAR cannot be rehomed elsewhere in the future, we must be contacted if anything changes and you are unable to keep the dog within your home. Hereford and Worcester Animal Rescue reserves the right to cancel the adoption of any animal, it is entirely at our discretion should we feel that you and the dog are not a suitable match.
